Pasquale Cati (circa 1550 - 1620)
The artist comes from the Marches, and just as the Zuccari brothers, which whom he was distantly related, he went to Rome to make himself a career. He made frescos for important churches but we still do not know much about his life and works. He was a part of the very interesting group of artists round the Cavaliere d’Arpino, the Zuccari and Gerolamo Muziano who renewed the Roman art.
Literature: late roman mannerism is still, albeit it’s high quality and innovative character a relatively blind spot in art history. The studies of Alessandro Zuccari and Patrizia Tosini are opening this fascinating field.
